Episode 75: Of Rule and Office with Melissa Lane
Leadership requires care. Care that extends to the people around you, for whom leaders are responsible. But also care for the practice of leadership itself.
Ideas about this extend back to Plato, who engaged in many conversations about the responsibilities of leaders, the dangers of too much power, and considering the good of others.
Princeton professor Melissa Lane, whose book Of Rule and Office: Plato’s Ideas of the Political, joins us to explore the impact of Plato's ideas today, as we struggle with concepts of accountability and servant leadership.

Episode 74: Curating Leadership
Life is filled with busyness. When something or someone comes along to smooth the way and make life a little easier, we’re more than willing to give them our attention and our money.
In an attention-starved world, we look for people who make it easier for us to consume information and make decisions.
Pay attention to these curators. They care.

Episode 73: The Fediverse with Mike McCue
The web can be a complicated place. And for almost as long as it has existed, Mike McCue’s mission has been to make the content of the internet more easily accessible.
From Netscape in the 1990s to TellMe in the 2000s to Flipboard in the 2010s, Mike’s entrepreneurial spirit has guided him, and society has been the beneficiary.
And now, with the advent of the Fediverse, Mike is at it again, helping creators move their content from walled gardens to a system that lets them share content with all audiences, regardless of platform.
There’s a lot to learn. Fortunately, Mike is an excellent teacher.

Episode 72: Ars Gratia Artis
Often in our careers, we’re focused on our destinations — the job title, the salary, the external symbols that notch our success, and the associated reputational wealth in the eyes of those who see us.
We’re fixated on being when we should be intent on becoming. What are we doing, enjoying, and sharing that inform who we are?
Whether it’s personal or professional, learning is the key to our growth. And in this episode, there’s a short letter I reread to help remind me about the power of growth.
Please learn and grow with me! This timeless content is yours for free, and there’s even more for our paid subscribers.

Quotes from this episode
“Read, every day, something no one else is reading. Think, every day, something no one else is thinking. Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do. It is bad for the mind to be always part of unanimity.” ― Christopher Morley
