We start the season off with a little spice as I invite my ex Dylan (tendertatting)onto the show to address some recent controversy. We give you a little inside scoop into our relationship and talk about what it’s like dating a tattoo artist, everything from how to deal with differing skill levels to navigating breakups within the industry. Are you ready?

This episode I’m chatting with my friend, professional tarot reader and fellow co-owner of Tru Tattoo Shop, Sam Daveena. We chat about how maintaining firm boundaries can preserve your love for tattooing and Sam shares some of her secrets for staying grounded in a job that can get pretty personal (can you get more personal than a tarot reading?).
This episode I’m joined by Aaron Davis-Holloway, a friend and tattooer out of Atlanta. Aaron is known for his Afro-Americana style. In this episode we talk about how he developed his style and why it’s important to recognize and name this new (but not new) genre of tattooing.
This episode I sit down with Michigan-based artist Carrie Metz Caporusso. Carrie is well known for their ‘roll flowers’, intricate floral designs that are placed in and around the creases of body rolls. In this episode they explain how they came up with the concept ‘roll flowers’ and we discuss the lack of representation of fat bodies in the tattoo industry.
Content warning: this episode contains talk of eating disorders, weight loss and body dysmorphia. It also contains some homophobic language. If any of these topics could be activating for you please feel free to skip this episode.

This episode Vegas sits down with interdisciplinary artist, oral historian and tattooer Tamara Santibañez. They discuss how the tattoo industry has been largely unsafe for women, non-men and racialized folks and explore how to integrate trauma-informed practices within tattooing. They also unpack the ways in which the idea of "safe spaces" have been largely commodified and how to begin to empower our clientele/ tattoo collectors.

In this episode, Vegas sets intentions for the second season of The Teardown. They have an intimate conversation with the audience about experiences in tattooing as well as their relationship to the practice now.
