In Episode 85, I'm diving into how we learn to embrace our accomplishments and overcome the urge to minimize ourselves for the sake of others. We first have to understand where the urge to minimize ourselves and our accomplishments comes from and then we'll take a closer look at the harmful effects of doing just that. Next up I'll share some tangible tips to help you overcome the urge to minimize and even share some insight around how we can navigate our relationships through this whole experience. In Episode 84, we're deep diving this idea of seeking control but being met with resistance. This is a theme I've seen reflected a lot in my varying circles of influence recently and knowing this is something I've for sure struggled with in different seasons and how hard it can be to recognize on your own, it felt like time to talk it out!Can you relate to that feeling of just grasping for control at every corner and just feeling like you're spinning your wheels? I know that feeling all too well. Typically when we find ourselves grasping for control it's because we've come up against something that feels really unpredictable, unstable or just insecure. In these instances, we can try to force and will the thing we're after into existence. But truthfully control is just an illusion. Let's dive into where that resistance is coming from and ponder 'is control what you're actually seeking?'**This is an affiliate link - I do receive a small commission when you use my link to shop. In Episode 83, I'm sharing an unpopular opinion around how we're really only hurting ourselves by rushing away the uncomfortable messy middle seasons in order to get to the next box on the success checklist. The in-between seasons are where the most transformational growth happens. These are the seasons that qualify us to handle the stuff we *think* we are ready for. Today's conversation is a lot of self-reflection but I'm also seeing these lessons reflected back in new ways recently. When we can't clearly tell the world who we most authentically are, we're inclined to want to show up the way we perceive society to WANT us to show up. And in trying to be someone else, it feels easy to push for that next check box. But by rushing through those messy seasons, we miss the opportunity to find our own unique voice. We miss sitting in the mess - you know -  the hard stuff that qualifies us to take on  the harder stuff. In this conversation I'm for sure spilling the tea on years of navigating toxic corporate bs but the hurt is what transformed me into the compassionate human-first leader I am today! Looking back is totally uncomfortable, but really every 'bad' thing that happened was qualifying me to be the leader I am today and that is a leader that drives impact. Curious - can you relate to anything I shared?SHOUT OUT: THE GUT FIX IS NOW OPEN - The Gut Fix is under Programs! Use Code BUTWHATIFYOUDID to save $220 if listening in real time! In Episode 82, we're diving into how to best support yourself in uncomfortable seasons of change. Recently I had a team member share that they were feeling really uncomfortable with change. They asked for resources for how to feel more confident in these uncertain seasons and I figured they for sure are not the only person that feels this way! And so today I'm sharing all my tools for navigating uncomfortable feelings around change. The moment I decided to make a conscious decision around being okay with change was when change became easier to flow through. But what I've come to realize that different seasons require different tools and today I want to ponder the question 'What actually feels supportive to YOU in this season of life?' There is real power in learning to sit with the duality of emotion. For example, It's okay to feel sad and excited at the same time. Discomfort around change is normal and something we all go through but my hope is today's conversation normalizes this part of the human experience. In Episode 80,  I'm sitting down with Sarah Brackmann. Sarah is a Trauma Informed Breathwork Facilitator, 200 Hour Yoga Instructor, & Certified Personal Trainer. In today's conversation Sarah & I explore the power in Breathwork as a transformative newer modality that you may or may not be as familiar with. The conversation ends up down a 'learning to lead authentically' leadership rabbit hole (which I was totally okay with!). We talk about the struggle behind chasing the constantly moving goal post, we dive into learning to trust our inner & outer voices, but most importantly we reflect on how doing the self growth work allows you to show up and use your powerful voice to lead authentically. In the episode Sarah shares that she 'wishes more millennials knew the impact they could have' and that hit on a different level. That is the dream! This episode is bursting with soul led wisdom and I can't wait to hear your thoughts! Today we're kicking off season 4! In today's conversation we dive into what is trust, how to build trust, the difference between practical trust & emotional trust, what trust in the work place looks like and how to rebuild trust when trust is lost. We also dip our toe in exploring what relational capital is and how it might just be the thing that gets your through those tougher messy middle transitions. Relational capital is all about connectedness and when we aren't thriving, connectedness is for sure a core need. Episode 78 is Part 2 of my building culture mini series. In today's conversation I'm diving into why investing in & building people is the key to shifting culture in real time. But with building people comes a lot of emotional labor. In the book Radical Candor, they talk about how “Emotional labor is not just part of the job; it’s the key to being a good boss” and so we're diving into why this matters! I share insight into why it so important for people to be able to bring their whole selves to work. We discuss why building the whole person matters and how we as leaders have an opportunity to get to know our teams on a new level. We talk about learning our employees key motivators (Check out the Motivation Code by Todd Henry!) and how learning what each person needs to avoid boredom & burnout is so key to building an engaged team. To wrap up, we chat how as the leader you are really more of the editor than the author! Something peak your interest, come learn along with us! **This is an affiliate link - I do receive a small commission when you use my link to shop. Episode 77 is Part 1 of a 2-part Episode on Building Culture. If you aren't familiar with my story, I spent 15 years working in Entertainment Industry in a completely toxic work culture. After hitting my own personal rock bottom, I started over in the financial tech industry. I went from independent contributor to people leader all while going through a certification program to become a life coach. I have found my life coaching skills to be completely transferrable to my new position as a people leader and I'm sharing my thoughts & insight behind how I believe millennial leaders can shift the paradigm in front of us.In today's conversation I share my personal experiences with what I see working, what I see NOT working, and why I truly believe middle managers are uniquely positioned to create change and lead the corporate shift to a 'people first' approach. In our next episode we'll dive more into why I think people first matters and the realities that come with the emotional labor of being a strong people leader.Resources:'Social Responsibility at Work' Podcast with Host Angela HowardEP. 65 Creating More Human-Centric Workplaces with Angela Howard'Dare to Lead' Podcast with Host Brene Brown - Episode with Adam Grant & Simon SinekBooks: Out of Office: The Big Problem and Bigger Promise of Working from Home;  Radical Candor:Be a Kick-Ass Boss Without Losing Your HumanityBlack Friday Sales:The Legal Paige Contract Sale! 40% off everything! In Episode 76, Sydney shares her personal story from ticking the box as a 'successful' corporate Graphic Designer to hitting rock bottom, to rebuilding during the pandemic  and stepping into & owning her identity as her most aligned self as a Life Coach & Yoga Instructor. While we truly hit on so many powerful lessons some of my favorites were how Sydney shifts the idea of 'positive thinking' to 'perspective', how awareness around binary thinking can help us move through stress & overwhelm, how to grow our relationship with money, the power of choice & what happens when we choose to live in the gray space. This is one of those episodes I've shared a nugget of wisdom from every chance I've had since it was recorded and I can't wait to hear your takeways!Connect with Sydney!Sydney Fletcher is a life coach and yoga instructor. In Episode 75, I'm sharing my journey to healing my inner people pleaser & inviting you to come along for the ride. "So if you're looking for permission to do something differently, seeking permission to try something new - consider this your sign from the universe. Permission Granted."But I'll let you in on a little secret... you don't need my permission - you only need your own! From the blog: "People pleasing… something I've been asked countless times to cover on the podcast and yet the timing never felt quite right. It's a conversation that has surfaced in many of my circles, under many different circumstances and yet because it wasn't front & center in my world - I wasn't sure what value I could add to conversation in that space. And then I started to notice a recurring theme in many of my 1:1 client sessions - from setting goals to ‘ditch the inner people pleaser’ to committing to action steps where ‘no’ is actually a full sentence, it seemed like the desire to heal this wound was surfacing at every corner. I was hearing it from peers, coworkers, executives in the hallway. It came up on nearly every coffee date with a friend. The message was loud and clear - millennials are done with people pleasing… And so I started to note the similar sentiments, observe the associated feelings, and to describe the environments in which these thoughts surfaced in my journal. And that was where I realized it was connected to this craving… this desire… for permission to come from an external source.  It wasn't all that long ago that I found myself in a similar place in life seeking external permission to make any change even when deep down I could feel what was aligned & right. So - WHAT CHANGED?  I stopped WAITING for permission and started to GIVE myself permission to do the things that felt right to me, even if it went against the grain."Ready to dive in?!**This is an affiliate link - I do receive a small commission when you use my link to shop. By the time she was 25, she had been diagnosed with over a dozen health conditions, was living with a wheelchair, a feeding tube, had been in organ failure multiple times, was rejected from major medical centers and top specialists for being too complicated, and was ready to give up. Instead, from a single, powerful conversation, Sarah chose hope. On November 15, 2019 Sarah started her juice fast as one person and ended it on November 16th 2020 as someone completely different. She not only healed her physical body of all of the symptoms and conditions she was told would kill her, she also healed her emotional body which is what allowed the physical healing to take place. Since recognizing the universal truth that we are all magic and that we all have the ability to heal from whatever it is that we are experiencing, Sarah has made it her mission to share this message with the world. She regularly speaks on podcasts and is breaking into the world of public speaking, she is writing a book on her story as well as a children's book, and she has developed a coaching program to walk women through their own healing journies. In episode 72, I'm sitting down with Kimberly Kubicke to explore the world of Ayurveda, also known as, the oldest system of medicine. Ayurveda literally translates to the science of life. Part of learning to thrive in transition seasons is learning to holistically care for yourself and as some of my favorite podcasters 'The Shrink Chicks' always say, "to grow yourself you have to know yourself!" While this is likely the first time you've heard of Ayurveda, I hope the conversation is insightful and maybe leaves you a little more curious to go explore this ancient modality. In Episode 67 we're taking a raw, unscripted trip down memory lane through the messy middle of the last two years. I'm pulling back the curtain on the never ending emotional roller coaster and sharing what's next for me in my professional life. Warning: big changes ahead! My intent with this podcast is to normalize the messy middle seasons and although this conversation felt really vulnerable I hope it leaves you feeling a little less alone and a little more inspired to take action in your own life. Episode 66 - Today I'm going behind the scenes with Katina Mountanos. Katina Mountanos is the Chief Well-being Officer and co-founder of Daydreamers, a mental well-being company that is expanding the minds of adults through creative habits. In an increasingly robotic world, Daydreamers is on a mission to help humans access our most innate and powerful trait - creativity - so we can all live happier, healthier lives. Katina is also a published well-being author (Simon & Schuster), has a Master's in Clinical Psychology from Columbia's Mind-Body Institute, and certified coach, meditation + yoga teacher. After enduring the burnout cycle, she started a well-being community for Millennials called On Adulting that continues to reach 75K+ people globally. In today's conversation we dive into Katina's journey from starting the 'On-Adulting' blog which lead to writing a book to normalize the millennial experience (I.E. how to navigate adulthood in a happy and mindful way) to Katina's latest adventure co-founding 'Daydreamers' with her life partner Dupi. We talk about how to get people out of the 'languishing state' and into the 'flow state' and the mission behind 'Daydreamers'. We dive into where the idea came from and all the twists and turns the pandemic presented as they navigated the start-up world. Katina shares all about what is 'Daydreamers', why it's unique, who can benefit from it, what we can expect in the coming months and how to get involved!Grateful you stopped by!Today's conversation is sponsored by 'GutPersonal'!
