Description

Since we were born, the world has told us that there’s only one right way to have a body. And if you don’t have that body, you’re not good enough, you’re not pretty, you’re not smart, you’re not healthy — and we’re calling B.S.!!

Our names are Stef Streb and Jules Ohlemacher, and we invite you to come talk all things body with us in The Babesment!

We believe everyone — EVERYONE — should feel at home, confident, and comfortable in their bodies. Too many of us have been living lives that are too darn small for too long. You are worthy of whatever life you want, regardless of what your body looks like, and we want to empower you to live your biggest life with your whole heart starting RIGHT. NOW.

You deserve it.

Here it is: the last episode of The Babesment. Even though this is the last episode of the show, that does not mean it has to be the end of the amazing work that’s been done over the past two years. As we wrap things up, Stef + Jules talk about how to cope with the hole in your podcast feeds, what comes next for each of them, the inevitable T Swift update, and the immense joy and gratitude that comes with being a part of other women’s healing. This movement still has so far to go, but we can still appreciate how far we’ve come. Think about how you used to be and how you’ve grown – even in the smallest ways. And we wrap up the pod the same way we wrap up every single episode, by answering our last question for the last time. We promised we wouldn’t cry 😭.Come hang out and learn more about us at thebabesment.com!Connect with Stef StrebWebsite | stefstrebphoto.comInstagram | @stefstrebLinktree | linktr.ee/stefstrebConnect with Julie OhlemacherWebsite | julieohlemacher.comInstagram | @julie.ohlemacherLinktree | linktr.ee/julie.ohlemacherThe Babesment is a production of Crate Media
Today’s guest is Alex Dacy, AKA @wheelchair_rapunzel on Instagram and TikTok, and she is ALL ABOUT disability representation + body confidence. She’s a disabled creator, writer, model, advocate, and all-around wonderful human being. Ableness is a core part of the body liberation movement, and one that doesn’t get nearly the attention it deserves which makes Alex such an important voice. She has a way of cutting through the fluff and getting to the core of what actually matters about all human beings – all the while being funny as shit.Come hang out and learn more about us at thebabesment.com!Resources:Instagram: @wheelchair_rapunzelTikTok: @wheelchair_rapunzelConnect with Stef StrebWebsite | stefstrebphoto.comInstagram | @stefstrebLinktree | linktr.ee/stefstrebConnect with Julie OhlemacherWebsite | julieohlemacher.comInstagram | @julie.ohlemacherLinktree | linktr.ee/julie.ohlemacherThe Babesment is a production of Crate Media
Welcome to The Babesment LIVE! Well, technically this is a recording of our live episode, so it is not live itself. They answer audience questions, from finding a balance between body love and body neutrality, how to talk about body changes, tips for shopping when it can feel triggering, managing your expectations, and what they’d tell Taylor Swift if they ever ran into her in an elevator.Come hang out and learn more about us at thebabesment.com!Resources:Our merch shop is open for one last hurrah! We’re going to take a break from our typical body image stories to talk about something else that’s vitally important. Gabriela Mejia is the communications and programs manager at Hollaback!, a global movement aiming to end harassment of all kinds. They teach incredible, free bystander intervention training courses that can empower you to stand up and do something when you see injustices taking place. If you want to get out there, take action, and make this world a better place: this episode is for YOU. All good things come to an end. We’ve had an amazing journey together, changing lives, making new best friends, and getting the message out there about that sneaky bitch, diet culture. But Stef + Jules have made the decision to close the door to The Babesment. Putting out content is hard – especially so when you’re a full-time business owner. Stef + Jules take this time to talk about how you can support the content creators in your life so they keep showing up for you, the magic of investing in yourself, and why finding your calling + following it can be such a powerful but difficult thing to do. There will be more Babesment episodes coming, with the last airing on October 25, 2021. And while the podcast may be ending (for now), know that there is always a community to be found with Stef + Jules.Come hang out and learn more about us at thebabesment.com!Resources:Get 25% off the Intuitive Body Blueprint using the code “BABESMENT” through 10/1/2021Check out the new, improved Goddess Sessions and mention that you’re a Babesment babe on your form for $100 off through 10/1/2021Connect with Stef StrebWebsite | stefstrebphoto.comInstagram | @stefstrebLinktree | linktr.ee/stefstrebConnect with Julie OhlemacherWebsite | julieohlemacher.comInstagram | @julie.ohlemacherLinktree | linktr.ee/julie.ohlemacherThe Babesment is a production of Crate Media
Arielle Estoria has got some words of inspiration – and as a poet, author + artist, you know they’re some really good words too. Growing up a performer, she found it easier to be embodied as someone else. When she realized that, she knew she had to find a way to get comfortable as herself. Arielle talks about her journey to discovering her own character and letting go of parts of yourself and being okay with that because it’s all a part of our everlasting evolution. Come hang out and learn more about us at thebabesment.com!Resources:arielleestoria.comInstagram: @arielleestoriaTwitter: @arielleestoriaConnect with Stef StrebWebsite | stefstrebphoto.comInstagram | @stefstrebLinktree | linktr.ee/stefstrebConnect with Julie OhlemacherWebsite | julieohlemacher.comInstagram | @julie.ohlemacherLinktree | linktr.ee/julie.ohlemacherThe Babesment is a production of Crate Media
Buckle up because you’re in for a DOOZY of a podcast. Dr. Joshua Wolrich is the best. He’s a “health at every size” doctor which is what Stef + Jules are all about! He’s the author of the bestselling Food Isn't Medicine, and he’s a proponent of fighting weight stigma, as well as what he calls “nutribollocks.” We talk about advocating for your health and getting proper care at any weight, the dangers of health stigmas in the medical industry, and why it’s important to acknowledge that food is not medicine.Come hang out and learn more about us at thebabesment.com!Resources:Instagram: @drjoshuawolrichRead: Food Isn't MedicineListen to Willing to Be WrongConnect with Stef StrebWebsite | stefstrebphoto.comInstagram | @stefstrebLinktree | linktr.ee/stefstrebConnect with Julie OhlemacherWebsite | julieohlemacher.comInstagram | @julie.ohlemacherLinktree | linktr.ee/julie.ohlemacherThe Babesment is a production of Crate Media
What does it mean to own yourself? To fully embrace who you are and to recognize your worth as an individual? If you could own the word “fat” – not as an insult, but as a fact that can’t hurt you. It’s not easy to do – to be you on purpose, so Stef + Jules break down the concept of owning your worth because it’s so important in this life. Until diet culture is gone for good, there are going to be triggers trying to drag us down. Let’s focus on the glimmer of hope that comes when we prioritize the good we’ve done in our lives and accept what’s possible.Come hang out and learn more about us at thebabesment.com!Connect with Stef StrebWebsite | stefstrebphoto.comInstagram | @stefstrebLinktree | linktr.ee/stefstrebConnect with Julie OhlemacherWebsite | julieohlemacher.comInstagram | @julie.ohlemacherLinktree | linktr.ee/julie.ohlemacherThe Babesment is a production of Crate Media
Katie Pijanowski is an anti-diet and body image coach. She works at a big franchise gym where her goal is disrupting the fitness industry and its diet culture-centered focus. Fitness rocks, and it sucks to see diet culture fuck it up so much! If we let diet culture own working out or big-ass salads, it wins. Movement is a part of life and a part of intuitive eating, and we can enjoy it without all the baggage! Stef + Jules talk to Katie about learning to trust yourself and how she’s changing the narrative of fitness from the inside out.Come hang out and learn more about us at thebabesment.com!Resources:mindandbodystrong.comInstagram: @katiepijanowskiConnect with Stef StrebWebsite | stefstrebphoto.comInstagram | @stefstrebLinktree | linktr.ee/stefstrebConnect with Julie OhlemacherWebsite | julieohlemacher.comInstagram | @julie.ohlemacherLinktree | linktr.ee/julie.ohlemacherThe Babesment is a production of Crate Media
Yeah, diet culture sucks in a lot of obvious ways, but what about the different ways diet culture has impacted your life that you don’t even realize? The harmful effects of diet culture impact more than your body image and relationship with food. The perfectionistic, all-or-nothing thinking that permeates diet culture can seep into every single area of your life. Stef + Jules explore the ways social media feeds into the worst of those tendencies and how to fight back against perfectionism. We are human beings, and human beings are imperfect. Diet culture doesn’t want you to be human: it wants you to be an object. Be kind to yourself. You’re never going to be perfect, and that’s a good thing.Come hang out and learn more about us at thebabesment.com!Connect with Stef StrebWebsite | stefstrebphoto.comInstagram | @stefstrebLinktree | linktr.ee/stefstrebConnect with Julie OhlemacherWebsite | julieohlemacher.comInstagram | @julie.ohlemacherLinktree | linktr.ee/julie.ohlemacherThe Babesment is a production of Crate Media
Kathleen Layer is an intuitive eating and body image coach, yoga teacher, lover of fresh-baked anything, and a firm believer that diet culture sucks. Like, could she belong any more in The Babesment??She talks about her relationship with her body – how, early on, she learned to equate her value and worth with her size – and the trauma that comes with your body changing so much after puberty. She also dives into how she got sucked into diet culture, the trap of swinging between hardcore diets and the “fuck it” phases, and the relief that came from finally discovering and implementing intuitive eating. While intuitive eating can be easy once you get there, the journey to it can be really hard.Come hang out and learn more about us at thebabesment.com!Resources:kathleenlayer.comInstagram: @kathleenlayerConnect with Stef StrebWebsite | stefstrebphoto.comInstagram | @stefstrebLinktree | linktr.ee/stefstrebConnect with Julie OhlemacherWebsite | julieohlemacher.comInstagram | @julie.ohlemacherLinktree | linktr.ee/julie.ohlemacherThe Babesment is a production of Crate Media
We all hit those moments where everything feels hard. Sometimes, when things get rough, you have to learn to anchor into trust with yourself. When you think about it, trusting yourself is SO important. It takes so much trust to undo the harm that diet culture has done and to believe that there is something better on the other side. And sometimes trust comes easy… but that takes so. Much. PRACTICE! Anytime we’re trying something new, when we’re learning to become a different version of ourselves, trust is going to be a struggle. It’s going to be scary. But that fear is an indication of growth, and when you come out the other side OK, despite the fear, that’s where trust is born.Come hang out and learn more about us at thebabesment.com!Resources:Stef’s Stitch Fix referralJules’ Stitch Fix referralJoin the Intuitive Body BlueprintConnect with Stef StrebWebsite | stefstrebphoto.comInstagram | @stefstrebLinktree | linktr.ee/stefstrebConnect with Julie OhlemacherWebsite | julieohlemacher.comInstagram | @julie.ohlemacherLinktree | linktr.ee/julie.ohlemacherThe Babesment is a production of Crate Media
Today’s episode is all the things: it’s fun, it’s deep, and it’s going to leave you feeling inspired, empowered, and feeling good. It’s everything because the wonderful Cat Saavedra is all of that and more. She’s the host of her own podcast, POP! Culturally Aware, so you know there’s going to be some Taylor Swift talk in there. She dives into finding yourself when you feel lost, how diet culture strips us of our sense of self, and changing our surroundings in order to change ourselves.Come hang out and learn more about us at thebabesment.com!Resources:Listen: POP! We’re welcoming Nina Boyce back to The Babesment! She rocked her first appearance back in episode 21, where she dropped knowledge bombs about menstruation and period care that blew you away! Since that last appearance, Nina has managed to conceive and birth a whole human baby and it’s been an incredible journey. Stef + Jules speak with her about how her identity and experience have shifted thanks to pregnancy. Whether you’re pregnant, a mom, a mom-to-be, or – honestly – none of those things, Nina has a lot to bring to the table. We are all more than bodies – but we also don’t exist without them. It can be hard to find that balance between living as more than bodies while also living in our bodies and appreciating them. Our bodies and our selves are one and the same. Separate, but together.Let’s try this little tweak: instead of “I am more than my body,” try “I am more than my appearance.”We each have a unique journey with our bodies, and it’s going to take a personal approach to find the balance that works for us. Morgan Fazio is an anti-diet and body image coach, as well as a personal trainer. She helps her clients heal their digestion, make peace with food and exercise, and balance their hormones. She tells a powerful story of experiencing physical pain in her body and eventually being diagnosed with endometriosis, PCOS, SIBO, and leaky gut. Eventually, she learned to trust herself and advocate for her needs. Our healthcare system is so concerned with body size instead of body health, that just getting a doctor to listen to her (instead of just looking at her) was a battle. Tired of how awful the restriction made her feel, she set out to find freedom from food stress. Because isn’t the point of all of this to feel good?Come hang out and learn more about us at thebabesment.com!Resources:Instagram: @morganmichelecoachingDiet Culture Ditch Day 2021Connect with Stef StrebWebsite | stefstrebphoto.comInstagram | @stefstrebLinktree | linktr.ee/stefstrebConnect with Julie OhlemacherWebsite | julieohlemacher.comInstagram | @julie.ohlemacherLinktree | linktr.ee/julie.ohlemacherThe Babesment is a production of Crate Media
This week, we’re chatting with Vinny and Ashley of Heartfelt Cycle. Vinny was on the show, way back, in episode 10, before the coronavirus pandemic messed up our junk. Thankfully, his amazing Heartfelt community pulled through with love and support and they rode the wave through this last year. And that’s what they’re here to talk about: building awesome communities that encourage people to come together as a diverse group of identities. We talk about how Heartfelt Yoga has evolved and spun off into Heartfelt Cycle, how it takes the magic they built up in their yoga studio and brings it to the cycling world, and how thoughtful they were about the numbers and metrics they use to keep people from feeling disconnected from their bodies. Vinny has managed to create an awesome space that’s inclusive, intentional, and no-bullshit.Come hang out and learn more about us at thebabesment.com!Resources:heartfeltcyclestudio.comyogaheartfeltstudio.comVinny on Instagram: @lolokbyeAshley on Instagram: @originalblackunicornHeartfelt Yoga Studio: @heartfeltyogastudioHeartfelt Cycle Studio: @heartfeltcyclestudioDamn Girl: @damngirlcolumbusDiet Culture Ditch Day 2021Connect with Stef StrebWebsite | stefstrebphoto.comInstagram | @stefstrebLinktree | linktr.ee/stefstrebConnect with Julie OhlemacherWebsite | julieohlemacher.comInstagram | @julie.ohlemacherLinktree | linktr.ee/julie.ohlemacherThe Babesment is a production of Crate Media
