Stats. So. Many. Stats.
In January 2023 I thought cricket was a joke we all shared without ever getting to the punchline, like blaseball or true representative democracy. Then I started listening to Andy Zaltzman - first on The News Quiz, then on The Bugle - and because of his affection (Infatuation? Obsession?) for cricket, I’m now watching my first Ashes series. Thanks, Andy. (I think.)
This podcast won’t teach you the rules of cricket, or even explain why it might be a good idea to devote literal days of your life watching a test match, but you will get a sense of the long, stat-filled history of the game. And maybe, if you’re searching for some meaning in life or an antidote to *gestures broadly at state of world*, you’ll be inspired to pick up cricket and, for a few days at least, tell the world to kick rocks.
No idea what they are talking about, but I love it
I love in the US and have never seen cricket, but Andy made me a fan of the sport through The Bugle. I am proof that you don’t have to know a lick about cricket, but you will truly enjoy this podcast!
