Recorded on Feb 22 ‘23 I witnessed an anxious-avoidant couple where the anxious partner’s codependent beliefs and wounds triggered the avoidant’s core wounds. In this episode, I take you through the negative cycle that anxious-avoidant couples tend to fall into and the underlying factors causing the friction and what can be done about it. Conflict is a normal part of every healthy relationship dynamic, but it is healthy communication and conflict resolution skills that determine the depth of connection in a relationship - something we are hardly ever taught or modeled growing up. I take my coaching clients to the root of their triggers and their partner’s triggers and teach them conflict resolutions skills to help them resolve conflict and restore connection in a deep way. Recorded on Feb 20 ‘23 Growing up, a lot of us developed people-pleasing tendencies subconsciously because we learned that they helped us survive. Our minds are brilliant, in that they are remarkably adaptive and will do anything to help us survive within the environment we are in. I would invite you to look at the people-pleasing part of you with compassion and see it as a beautiful adaption that helped you survive a challenging childhood dynamic. I invite you to understand that part of you, express gratitude to it for helping you as a child and then gently explain to it that you no longer need it since as an adult you are able to have your own back. You are able to lovingly release it that way, instead of punishing and shooing away that part of you. Also, there might be healthy parts to the people-pleasing you might still want to keep, like being able to attune to other’s needs, only this time you’re not going to consider them at the expense of your own. I love parts work, since it helps us give love and understanding to all parts of ourselves. A much gentler approach to healing. This is the type of work I guide my coaching clients through. Recorded on Feb 15 ‘23 How do you deal with a situation when a loved one snaps at you? It can be particularly hard if you’re a highly sensitive person to be on the receiving end of something like that. Those of us that are avoidants would probably just try to forget about it and numb out our feelings around it. Healthy relationships are borne out of a combination self-healing work and communicating our needs/boundaries. In this episode, I take you through an incident in my life where I am snapped at out of the blue by a family member that I dearly love and how I process it emotionally in a healthy way and follow it up with a healthy vulnerable conversation about it with them. Rupture and repair are part of every healthy relationship, it’s when we don’t communicate and resolve conflict that problems fester and lead to disconnection in relationships. These are exactly the kind of relationship skills I teach my coaching clients. Hi, I’m Nirosha 🙂. Recorded on Feb 9 ‘23 Growing up I was extremely hard on myself and would fall into the pattern of beating myself up to get things done and not letting myself have fun in the process. I would make things extra hard for myself, but then I would hit burnout mode and come crashing down. I am now learning to support myself in the process of achieving my goals by aligning them with my interests, needs and strengths so I can have fun along the way. In this episode, I show you how the beating-yourself-up method is counter-productive and how you can actually be more productive when you walk in alignment with your authenticity. Hi, I’m Nirosha 🙂. Recorded on Feb 9 ‘23: This is the single most important mental skill you will ever learn in your life, especially if you are hypervigilant and tend to personalize other people’s behavior toward you. #hypervigilance #depersonalization Learning the art of observing my thoughts instead of getting identified with them has been the simplest yet most transformational shift in my life journey. If you struggle with chronic anxiety and worry, along with somatic work this simple mental skill has the potential to bring you immense relief and transform your life. For the first 3 decades of my life, I went around literally believing every thought my mind offered me. Most of us live our lives that way, on autopilot. I invite you to listen to this episode to begin to learn to transcend your mind and become the master of your thoughts and emotions. Hi, I’m Nirosha 🙂. Recorded on Feb 8 ‘23. I have struggled with regret a lot in my life. I still experience it pretty intensely sometimes, but now I have the tools to master it. Did you know every time we wallow in regret, we actually abandon ourselves? The quality of our connection to ourselves is directly related to the quality of our connection to the moment in front of us. How fiercely loyal can you be to the present moment? In complete acceptance to what is. In this episode, I share how I deal with the thoughts and feelings that come with regret and how you can master it too! Hi, I’m Nirosha 🙂. Recorded on April 6 ‘23. This was an emotional share for me as I was preparing to let go of a friendship/situationship that my inner child really wanted me to hold on to, albeit from an wounded place. Sometimes, we have to let a good thing die to make space for better things to be born. Hi, I’m Nirosha 🙂. I am a certified life coach (IAT coach trained by Thais Gibson) who helps people successfully deal with anxiety, pain, grief, loss, burnout & relationship challenges. As we make our way toward big goals in life, it’s important to allow ourselves to take small baby steps and give ourselves a pat on the back for any small progress made toward our future reality, instead of constantly comparing our work with people who are “further” than us and criticizing our work. Growth and progress is always incremental. We have to be able to trust the process and cultivate patience. Hi, I’m Nirosha 🙂. For those of us with perfectionism trauma, it can be really scary to show up imperfectly in the world. We’d rather not show up at all. This is me daring myself and daring you to be imperfect as I turn in an imperfect piece of art. It is through these little steps of exposure work and giving ourselves positive reinforcement right after, that we show our inner child & our bodies that it is safe to be imperfect and that they can trust us to have their back no matter what. Recorded on June 12 ‘23- (Pain a bridge to our next level, “failcess”, steps on a ladder, dead ends in the maze, gaining wisdom along the way) As I sat down wondering why I had to encounter yet another “failed” dead-end romantic dynamic again and had to go through the detachment process yet again for what seemed like the 100th time, I realized how this experience could actually be a mandatory step in the ladder to meeting my ultimate person. Just like a game of treasure hunt, every “dead” spot where you don’t find the treasure actually has a piece of paper hidden in it carrying important clues to get to the next step, which gets you closer to your actual treasure. Instead of getting lost in regret and ignoring the paper with the next clue, let’s go toward it and ask ourselves what learnings/clues was I destined to pick up from this relationship that’s going to help me to find and sustain what is eventually meant for me.
