The War and Treaty’s Michael and Tanya Trotter grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and Washington, DC, respectively, but both have family roots in the South. They also grew up in the musical traditions of their churches – Tanya in the Black Baptist Church and Michael in the Seventh Day Adventist Church – where they learned the power of song to move people. After becoming a father at a very young age, Michael eventually joined the armed forces and served in Iraq and Germany, where he took up songwriting as a way of dealing with his experiences there. Meanwhile Tanya embarked on a singing and acting career after a breakthrough appearance in Sister Act 2 alongside Whoopi Goldberg and Lauryn Hill. Now, after a long and sometimes traumatic journey, Michael and Tanya are married, touring, winning all sorts of awards, and set to release their fifth album together, and their fourth as The War and Treaty. Sid talks to Michael and Tanya about the new record, Plus One , as well as their collaboration with Miranda Lambert, what it was like to record at FAME studios in Muscle Shoals, and how they’re blending country, soul, gospel, and R&B. Welcome to Proof of Change, ChangeDAO’s podcast hosted by Ash Cooper Kerns . In this story, we continue our conversation about FOUND3R to shift the narrative of Web3 in Washington, DC. We are joined by Coalition founding members David All , artist Bryan Brinkman and US Army Officer and Harvard Business School graduate turned Web3 entrepreneur, Mike Fiuk . Over the past 6 weeks, ChangeDAO interviewed three dozen Web3 entrepreneurs, builders and innovators about their concerns about the current regulatory landscape and a need to better "combat toxic negativity" in Washington, DC. FOUND3R brings together regulators, industry actors, and Web3 natives to find common ground and work towards shared goals. Together, we developed a plan and we’re kicking things off in New York City with an old fashioned Community Town Hall . Our plan is simple: ✅ Tell Positive Stories Repeatedly ✅ Create a Culture of Learning ✅ Build Trust through Collaboration We are running a campaign to help America Win with Web3 ; we need all the help and support we can get. Our movement starts in NYC on July 26th. RSVP to our NYC Community Town Hall: https://lu.ma/fu4gpn1t To learn more about FOUND3R, visit: https://linktr.ee/FOUND3R Follow @FOUND3RUSA on Twitter. We are running a campaign to help America Win with Web3 ; we need all the help and support we can get. Welcome to Proof of Change, Change.Gallery’s podcast hosted by Ash Cooper Kerns . In this story, we delve into the topic of Brand Philanthropy and how it intersects with the exciting world of Web3 technology and social impact NFT projects on Change.Gallery. At Change.Gallery, we help traditional brands and individual philanthropists raise awareness about their unique "brand" of philanthropy. By joining NFT projects on our platform and matching their social impact to a cause, they can make a significant difference in addressing critical social issues and effecting positive change. When multiple stakeholders invest in a cause, it sends a powerful message to the community. This collective effort creates a ripple effect, amplifying the social impact and enabling projects to reach greater heights. At Change.Gallery, we believe that Brand Philanthropy is a win-win-win-win for all stakeholders involved. Change.Gallery is built on the Ethereum blockchain which provides the trust and transparency that stakeholders need to work together. Through our latest feature, we include the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals on-chain as a crucial part of every project. This allows stakeholders and independent third parties to measure the social impact against the broader goals, ensuring accountability and progress. Welcome to Proof of Change, Change.Gallery’s podcast hosted by Ash Cooper Kerns. In this story, David All and Meera Chakravarthy of Change.Gallery join Ash in a conversation about the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, or UN SDGs. This conversation was recorded live on a weekly Twitter Space; follow @changegallery on Twitter to experience future stories live. The United Nations, an international organization dedicated to finding shared solutions for humanity, adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015. These goals aim to eradicate poverty, protect the planet, and ensure peace and prosperity for all by 2030. At Change.Gallery, we believe in the power of art to address the SDGs and create measurable social impact, and specifically focus on building leading edge Web3 technology to enhance the capabilities of artists and changemakers in contributing to these goals. In an exciting technical development, version 1.1 of our product, which is being released this month, takes a critical step forward by incorporating UN SDGs on-chain as a fundamental part of every Changemaker project. By utilizing Web3 technology, NFT projects aimed at social impact include a UN SDG classification in both on-chain data in the Ethereum public blockchain and as metadata stored in decentralized storage on IPFS. This ensures real-time accessibility of information to stakeholders without the need for intermediaries. To learn more about Change.Gallery, visit: https://linktr.ee/changegallery To watch a video we created for the UN demonstrating our product, visit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGFcRGXKYfg Learn about UN SDGs: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sustainable_Development_Goals…
In this story, Proof of Change host Ash Cooper Kerns explores the transformational NFT Collection, TRASH , by glitch artist The Visceral Glitch. The artist's statement: TRASH speaks to the grit and beauty of our world. In each piece, discarded remnants of our consumerist society are given new life and transformed into something undeniably unique. This collection is a celebration of the unconventional, a redefinition of what it means to see the hidden potential in the everyday. Join us in embracing the unexpected and discovering beauty where it was least expected. A portion of NFT sales benefit the Psychedelic Access Fund (PAF) , a nonprofit that breaks down the financial, psychological, and societal barriers that prevent individuals from experiencing psychedelic healing. PAF joins the conversation to talk about their work and why art and Web3 are crucial aspects of their strategy to make a measurable social impact. Change.Gallery is the go-to platform for creating social impact through art. Welcome to our podcast episode on measurable impact on our platform. In this story we discuss some of the language and terms already being used across continents, communities, cultures, industries and sectors around social impact that we adopt on our platform. One of these terms is ESG, which stands for Environment, Social, Governance. ESG refers to the three central factors in measuring the sustainability and societal impact of an investment in a company or business. By integrating ESG factors into investment decisions, stakeholders build businesses that might create positive change in society. Another term we use is DEI, which stands for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. DEI is a framework for creating a workplace or community where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported. By promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, stakeholders create a more productive and innovative environment in their business and organization that benefits everyone involved. Lastly, we also incorporate the UN SDGs, which stands for United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The UN SDGs are a set of 17 goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015 to create a sustainable future for all. These goals cover a wide range of topics, from poverty and hunger to climate action and gender equality. By aligning our platform with these goals, we provide easy access for artists to attach the social impact they created through their art to these broader goals. By using a common language such as ESG, DEI, and the UN SDGs, we empower stakeholders to come together to make even more of an impact regardless of their knowledge of technology. By measuring our impact against these established frameworks, we can track our progress and ensure that we are making a meaningful contribution to society. In order to achieve our mission of creating a sustainable future for all, we understand that we need to work with stakeholders who are already providing these services to businesses and organizations. If you are a brand, consultant, or agency working towards similar objectives, solutions, and goals, we would love to collaborate with you and introduce you to our community of artists. Change.Gallery is a platform that can help streamline impact reporting and create even more meaningful change through art. Reach out if you would like to learn more.…
