Art transcends boundaries, both in terms of nature vs. nurture, concept and the medium.  Alice Aycock defies being a trailblazer, innovator, and rule breaker today by challenging traditional definitions of art and expanding the possibilities of the artistic expression.  She is a renowned American artist, especially known for her large scale abstract sculptural installations, as well as drawings and models. Her work spans a wide range of media and often explores themes related to architecture and design, engineering, nature, and the human experience. Art helps open our eyes to injustice and convey powerful new visions and possibilities. Renée Cox is a Jamaican-born African-American artist known for her provocative photographs, 3D visuals and multimedia videos that address racism and sexism in society. Her work is often described as controversial because of her interpretations with nothing to hide. She is known for using her body to celebrate black womanhood including her first one woman solo show in 1998, where she was the center of attention, as a black superhero, named Raje, a dynamic and  powerful beautiful figure which heightened the visual impact of the work, making her politics clear and engaging. She has produced countless projects since, which are moving and thought-provoking including her solo exhibition this summer at Guild Hall in East Hampton, Proof of Being. Modern Dance was born in America during the turn of the 20th century when a number of choreographers and dancers rebelled against the rigid academic dance establishment, and instead expressed a free-form dance environment celebrating woman. Dance can expose human emotion through movement, and there is no one who achieves that philosophy more than the Martha Graham Dance Company, a world leader in the evolving art form of modern dance since its founding in 1926. New York City’s Central Park is home to many works of public art, featuring iconic statues and monuments. American Sculptor Meredith Bergmann details the effort, planning, time and creation that goes into erecting a sculpture that calls Central Park its home. Storytelling through art and history is a unique skill. Vinnie Bagwell, originally as a journalist, looked deeply into her subject matter. Then as a representational-figurative artist, she uses sculpture and traditional bas-relief techniques as visual narratives to expand her storytelling. For 30 years, she has defined herself as an American sculptor who casts in bronze. As well, she is the co-author of a book and sculptor of one of her most recent commissions "A Study of African-American Life in Yonkers From the Turn of the Century.” Vinnie is recognized for reframing public art which includes historical Black figures which has won numerous public-art commissions and awards throughout the United States. Anita Durst, Founder and Artistic Director of Chashama, details her path and passion about exposing artwork by activating mostly empty retail spaces in New York City and discusses the importance of art everywhere and art for all. For almost three decades, Chashama has played a central role in sustaining New York’s vibrant artistic community and increasing artists’ access to space and exposing art everywhere and for all. Hyperrealism enhances reality by creating illusions. American sculptor and author Carole A. Feuerman, is among the early artists who are credited with starting the hyperrealism movement, specifically sculpture, in the 1970s. Best known for her figurative works of swimmers and dancers, Carole is the only woman known to sculpt in this style of life size realistically painted outdoor sculptures.Carole has had solo museum gallery foundation shows throughout the world.
