E63 - Audio vs Video Podcasting - The Podcast Owner's Manual Mini Series Audio vs Video Podcasting - or both? There are a few key differences between audio and video podcasts: Production time: Video podcasts typically take longer to produce than audio podcasts because they involve creating and editing video content in addition to the audio. Equipment: Audio podcasts generally require less equipment than video podcasts. Audio podcasts can often be recorded using just a microphone and a computer, while video podcasts typically require a camera and lighting equipment in addition to audio recording equipment. Distribution: Audio podcasts are typically distributed through podcast directories like Apple Podcasts or Spotify, while video podcasts may also be distributed through platforms like YouTube or Vimeo. Engagement: Some people find it easier to engage with audio podcasts while doing other activities, such as driving or exercising, while video podcasts may require more attention and may be more suitable for watching at home or on a device with a larger screen. Monetization: There are many different ways to monetize podcasts, but video podcasts may have more opportunities for revenue through ads or sponsorships. Overall, the decision to produce an audio or video podcast will depend on your goals and resources. Both types of podcasts have their own unique benefits and can be effective ways to reach an audience. ___ http://howtopodcast.ca/ Podcasting Tips, How To Podcast, Start A Podcast, School, Podcast, Podcaster, Podcast Review --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thehowtopodcastseries/message
Episode 238 - How my YouTube Strategy Differs from other creators - How I made YouTube work for me, not the other way around An Audio only podcast does have a home on YouTube despite the constant railings of "gurus" that preach to podcasters that (in their words) "Fake videos do not belong on YouTube" To these "gurus", a fake video is anything that is not a video. What is your YouTube strategy for your podcast? Do you have a strategy? Mine differs from others in this space based on one simple statement - I do not work for YouTube, YouTube works for me! YouTube is great for your podcast as a backup drive, as a legacy for your content, the ease of connection is simple, searchability is strong to be found, accessibility is ever present with closed captioning and transcripts for free and non-video versions of an audio cast will work for many including marathon true crime podcasters - you don't need to make a movie of your episodes - you have a space on YouTube for your audio only content. If you come across anyone in podcasting that tells you that a free platform should never be trusted because free is a bad business plan - then kindly ask them if they have a Facebook account, or Instagram, or LinkedIn or TikTok - those are all free plans and seem to do suprisingly well as a free platform. What is your YouTube strategy? ____ https://howtopodcast.ca/ --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thehowtopodcastseries/message

The Daily Dave - Podcasting Tips - Narrative Podcasting - A Different Approach to Interviewing - Podcastin' in the free world I recently had the priviledge to spend time with Neil Young's older brother Bob on my Living The Next Chapter Podcast. We talked about his new book, we shared stories of his brother Neil and the Young Family. Our conversation was not framed like a typical interview so I thought I would try editing the interview in a different format. I am putting this out so you can see that there are other ways to edit your podcasts - be creative and don't be afraid to try new editing techniques. Bob Young was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1942. He was a member of the Canadian Professional Golfers’ Association for nearly three decades and first met Moe Norman in the early 1960s. Like Norman, Young has always been intrigued by metaphysics and has had access to the leading trance mediums. Young’s brother is Neil Young, the internationally recognized singer-songwriter. https://www.bobyounggolf.com/ ___ https://howtopodcast.ca/ --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thehowtopodcastseries/message

Episode 233 - CO-HOST - Jane Pilger - The Binge Breakthrough Podcast - Listeners see themselves in our stories The Binge Breakthrough Podcast Break through the cycle of binge eating, compulsive overeating, emotional eating, and food addiction. Learn the strategies, tools, and mindset you need to create lasting changes and finally find food freedom. Now available on Substack! Subscribe below to get notified of a new episode every Wednesday. My Binge Breakthrough Story I still vividly remember my first binge – the aftermath of a care package filled with fun-sized candy bars during my first semester in college. Surrounded by empty wrappers, I felt broken and ashamed. Little did I know that this moment would kickstart a 25+ year cycle of restricting and bingeing. Decades of therapy, treatment, and restrictive diets followed. I tried changing my thoughts, seeking control, and navigating two rounds of intensive outpatient therapy. But what I didn't understand was my body, its needs, and how to cultivate trust within myself. It wasn't until I delved into the science of the brain and body, embraced a trauma-informed approach, and filled my journey with compassion that I began to truly transform. I learned to create safety, trust, and connection within myself, reshaping my inner dialogue. Now, my passion lies in helping women who have struggled with food for decades to find food freedom and body trust. My approach is rooted in both science and compassion, offering a path towards healing and self-empowerment. https://www.janepilger.com/ ____ https://howtopodcast.ca/ --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thehowtopodcastseries/message

The Daily Dave - Podcasting Tips - Newton's Cradle - Simple Desk Toy or Action Incentive to change for podcasters You've probably seen this contraption before: Five small silver balls hang in a perfectly straight line by thin threads that attach them to two parallel horizontal bars, which are in turn attached to a base. They sit on office desks around the world. If you pull a ball up and out and then release it, it falls back and collides with the others with a loud click. Then, instead of all four remaining balls swinging out, only the ball on the opposite end jumps forward, leaving its comrades behind, hanging still. That ball slows to a stop and then falls back, and all five are briefly reunited before the first ball is pushed away from the group again. This is a Newton's cradle, also called a Newton's rocker or a ball clicker. It was so-named in 1967 by English actor Simon Prebble, in honor of his countryman and revolutionary physicist Isaac Newton. Despite its seemingly simple design, the Newton's cradle and its swinging, clicking balls isn't just an ordinary desk toy. It is, in fact, an elegant demonstration of some of the most fundamental laws of physics and mechanics. The toy illustrates the three main physics principles at work: conservation of energy, conservation of momentum and friction. In this article, we'll look at those principles, at elastic and inelastic collisions, and kinetic and potential energy. We'll also examine the work of such great thinkers as Rene Descartes, Christiaan Huygens and Isaac Newton himself. How does this relate to podcasting? What you put out to the world will come back to you in equal measure - whether that is kindess or unkindness, encouragement or discouragement - if you are looking to grow your podcast, help someone else grow their podcast. If you are looking for money for your podcast, give to another podcast. If you want reviews, give reviews. Don't give to get - give to give and it will be returned to you - it might not come back to you exactly as you gave but it will return to you with the same impact, just like Newton's Cradle ___ --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thehowtopodcastseries/message
