Depth and Enthusiasm
Syb has an uncanny ability to get inside the work- and the mind it seems- of every photographer she interviews. Her preparation before engaging an artist is more than “homework,” it is depth work: she clearly puts in the time to live inside their images and brings forth unexpected connections and resonances. Thank you Syb for bringing your unbounded enthusiasm and depth to this podcast.
Great Fresh, Irreverent, Informative Podcast
I always love listening to J. sybylla Smith’s podcasts. Her interviewing style is unscripted and perfect. The conversations are fascinating, especially since she is so knowledgeable about art, philosophy, other creative disciplines, societal constructs and life in general . Besides learning a lot and expanding my mind beyond its preconceptions, I always laugh out loud. (In her latest podcast, I learned we both have solar powered waving Queen Elizabeth’s in our kitchens.) Her sense of humor balances nicely with gender discussions around women’s roles, or discussions of metaphor and memory. I highly recommend this podcast. I need to put aside time to listen to them all.
Finger on the pulse
Sybylla has her finger on the pulse of contemporary photography with each podcast spotlighting artists and books of note. Syb and her guests offer insight into the “making of” fascinating bodies of work and inspire listeners in the process. This podcast is a great resource and nod to photographic artists.
