S4.E18 - Reenacting American Slavery and Segregation is wrong, especially during Black History month

S4.E14 - POV: Your Child is so Well Behaved and other Vague Compliments
What does it even mean when you say "Your child is so well behaved." to a caregiver?
Let's chat about the importance of reframing and elaborating on this statement in a way that supports growth for the student and clarity for caregivers.
Let's expand and deepen our understanding around the concept of "well-behaved". What is the purpose of education and how is a student being "well-behaved" helping accomplish this purpose?

Bringing joy back into the classroom
I recently listened to the two episodes geared for students on joy. I was inspired by your podcast and the work of Dr. Gholdy Muhammad to create a lesson for a group of students that I am currently working with. I presented the lesson to them last week and they LOVED it! The student worksheets you created were a great way to capture what brings them joy and what it means to truly know them. I look forward to seeing how knowing these things about the students will help me to create a more joyous classroom experience for them. Thank you to both of you for your work!
Thought provoking podcast
I always learn something, get an idea for my classroom and/ or see a new perspective with this podcast. Thanks, Jocelynn!
The best podcast on Culturally Responsive Teaching
