It's Never Too Late to Do What's Right, with Caroline D'Amore, Founder of Pizza Girl (RERUN)

It's Never Too Late to Do What's Right, with Caroline D'Amore, Founder of Pizza Girl (RERUN)

It’s never too late to do what’s right. And with the hate around the world at an all-time high, there is no better day than today to re-release a conversation with an incredible founder who chose to stand up against hate---no matter the impact on her business. Caroline D’Amore is a friend and an advocate for the Jewish community, and as someone who owns a business had every thing to lose—but wasn’t afraid to stand up for what was right.
Caroline's journey began with Pizza Girl, an all-organic Italian foods company born from her pursuit of high-quality, authentic pasta sauces. Her decision to publicly support the Jewish community post-terrorist attacks marked a significant moment in her career as Pizza Girl turned activist. Host, Lindsay Pinchuk was so taken by Caroline and her activism, she invited Caroline to join her for one of the most important and honest conversations we've ever had here on the show.
Lindsay and Caroline delve into the complexities of balancing business with activism. Caroline acknowledges the challenges but emphasizes the necessity of mental health and self-care. She advocates for speaking one's truth, reinforcing that the impact of such actions often surpasses the potential risks associated with losing followers or business.
The episode celebrates the power of authenticity, the importance of advocacy, and using one’s business platform for achieving broader social good.
    Quotes:
"I just couldn't believe that something so atrocious and devastating and awful could happen to so many people in Israel to then see within even just a few days where there was not even time to mourn, there was such a backlash and hate parade." (15:38 | Caroline D'Amore)"I will not stop. I will not be silenced. I do not scare easily." (26:26 | Caroline D'Amor)"Life is short. And people kept saying to me, if I lose my business tomorrow, at least I know that I stood for something." (34:39 | Caroline D'Amore)

I couldn’t do it to my customers… I kept the formula that everybody loved... I kept it exactly the same. (35:54 | Dana Lynn Kaye)“I kept quality and people saw that. It’s paid off in the long run because people are willing to buy quality. The people who really care about themselves and quality will buy it. They will. The ones who are like, ‘Oh, that’s too expensive for me.’ Okay, it’s not for you then. Not every brand, not everything is going to be for you.” (36:27 | Dana Lynn Kaye)

Creating an 8-Figure Solution to Help Get More Sleep, with Kathrin Hamm, Founder of Bearaby

Creating an 8-Figure Solution to Help Get More Sleep, with Kathrin Hamm, Founder of Bearaby

Kathrin Hamm, originally an economist at the World Bank, turned her chronic insomnia into an opportunity by creating Bearaby, a thriving business centered around a unique product: a weighted blanket made entirely from organic materials, without plastic beads. Her journey involved overcoming skepticism from manufacturers and the complexities of introducing a new, sustainable product category to the market. Kathrin's determination led to a brand that epitomizes comfort and eco-friendliness.
Using Bearaby’s direct-to-consumer model, Kathrin leveraged user-generated content and established key retail partnerships with major players like Nordstrom and West Elm, helping to expand Bearaby’s market presence and confirming consumer demand for eco-friendly, health-centric products.
Kathrin discusses the crucial role of community and networking in her entrepreneurial journey. Connecting with other founders and mentors provided the support and insights needed to navigate the challenges of startup life. This sense of community is something Kathrin believes all entrepreneurs should tap into to drive their businesses forward.
    Quotes
“It was really a lot of Googling, a lot of reaching out to people, building that network early on. As a first time founder and someone who wasn’t in that field before, I didn’t have a lot of contacts. So for someone to start thinking about the business, think about who you know and who you can reach out to and build that network early.” (14:23 | Kathrin Hamm) “I was in my mid-thirties and people thought I’m crazy to quit a solid job and then start selling blankets on the internet. I think it’s never too late to start, especially if you’re passionate about something. Give it a year. Don't look back. And if it doesn’t work out, you will have a great learning experience.” (37:43 | Kathrin Hamm)

Don’t Miss A “ FoundHer”Episode!

My only regret is not meeting Lindsey years ago! I love every second of each episode — it’s like small business consulting — gratis! Our baking business is in its 14th year, and as a FoundHer I am still learning and am grateful for this resource. I can’t wait for the next episode. I recommend Dear FoundHer podcast without reservation!

Fantastic podcast!

Lindsay is a natural, and I love listening to her podcast. What makes her so good is that she truly listens and responds to the things her guests say. It’s an actual conversation. Some podcasters can’t go off script- they have their list of questions and once their guest answers they’ll say “that’s awesome” and move right on. Not Lindsay! She always comes back to the messages her guests impart, it never feels stiff or awkward, and her episodes truly feel like you are chatting with girlfriends (albeit brilliant ones!) around a dinner table. I love listening to this show on long walks - it’s such an inspiring podcast for female founders!

Great tips

I’m so glad I found Lindsay and absolutely love, love, love her podcast. I’ve gotten so many gems of tips. A bonus is that she brings such fantastic energy to her podcast.
