This episode feels so bittersweet, because it’s going to be my last one for a while. This has been an extremely hard decision for me, because I’ve built an incredible community since starting my podcast. Whether this is the first episode you’ve tuned into, or you’ve been with me from the beginning, I just want to let you know how truly, TRULY grateful I am for you, and how near and dear you are to my heart! I don’t think this will be goodbye forever in this space, but more of a goodbye for now. While a podcast pause is happening, we’re also talking about the elephant in the room today. I’m not necessarily making fun of myself here (but...I kind of am too). I recently had someone comment on my weight - specifically, telling me I’ve gained weight. Even though this was really difficult to hear, it’s also true, because I HAVE gained weight. Fortunately, I already know how important it is to take care of our inner child, and do the necessary work to care for and love ourselves and not relying on others to do so. Ultimately, I want you to know that you are ALREADY enough, and worthy, and loved - no matter your weight or size. Please continue to show up as your unique, vibrant, and magnetic self, because no one can take that away from you!In this episode, we chat about:An amazing speaking opportunity + retreat I was able to experience in Mexico Thinking about your inner child/the little girl version of yourself, and what she would love about you now as an adult womanRandom messages from strangers on the internet that make all of your insecurities and negative beliefs come flooding back inWhy we MUST have radical self acceptance and self compassion so we won’t be easily hurt and brought down by the outside worldHow I’ve continued to evolve as a business owner and person over the last few yearsMy difficult decision to pause the podcast, and what’s coming up in my next season Resources & Links:Book a Power Hour Coaching SessionLearn more about partnering with me as a speakerInquire about advertising on the Climbing with Coach Kiah podcastCheck out the Backroad Cowgirls site!Shop the Coach Kiah Store. I am beyond excited to welcome today’s guest, Waylynn Lucas, to the podcast! We’re diving into what life can look like when you follow your fire, instead of taking the ‘normal’ path that looks just like everyone else’s. Waylynn’s story is fascinating; she’s had a variety of unique life experiences, and she hasn’t been afraid to pursue different passions on her journey. Waylynn’s energy, spirit, and no-nonsense attitude is one-of-a-kind, and she is truly a light in the world. Waylynn Lucas is the cookbook author of Sunny-Side Up, more than 100 recipes from the essential egg to the perfect pastry. She is the encouraging but honest judge on Food Network’s hit show, Cake War. Her love of country life and the outdoors has brought her back to the basics of food and life, where she now owns and operates a wholesale bakery, Butter & Barley. She strives to deepen her culinary knowledge, expand her homestead to gardens, cheese making and raising her own food. She also wants to be the voice to bridge the gap between farmers, ranchers, and the restaurant-consumer world, and connect the people back to their food on a wholesome and educated journey. Waylynn hosts women’s horsemanship and country culinary retreats with her gal pal and best friend, as well as offering life and success coaching in a business they call Grit Grace Grow.In this episode, we chat about:Waylynn’s life plans that originally led her away from the ag and western lifestyleWhy it’s okay to try everything and figure out what actually sets your soul on fireHow valuable a strong work ethic can bePivotal life lessons that pushed Waylynn to ‘keep suiting up and showing up’, and sharing with othersUnderstanding when it’s time to let something go and make a necessary shift in your lifeWhat’s next for Waylynn as she steps back into the western industry in this season of lifeNavigating the new journey of motherhood and career as a single mom, and finding a balance between the twoResources & Links:Book a Power Hour Coaching SessionLearn more about partnering with me as a speakerInquire about advertising on the Climbing with Coach Kiah podcastCheck out the Backroad Cowgirls site!Shop the Coach Kiah Store. I have a very fun episode to share with you today! My good friend, Emily Reuschel, is joining me on the podcast, and we’re talking about something we both TOTALLY nerd out about - habits! Since we’re approaching the end of 2023, Emily and I thought it would be beneficial to dive more into habits and share some tactical tools and takeaways to help you re-evaluate your current habits, or re-establish new ones all together. We both feel very passionately about habits, because they can really enhance the FULL 360 view of your life. The power of tiny habits has majorly impacted our businesses, health journeys, and personal growth journeys. Emily Reuschel is a farmer’s wife, mom of three, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, podcast host, and the leader of retreats and masterminds that propel rural women toward their truest, most-aligned goals and priorities. She helps other rural women get clear on what they want, release the inner dialogue that tells them it’s impossible, and go after the goals that are keeping them awake at night …. without giving up the small-town life they love.In this episode, we will cover:Why you don’t need to wait until the new year to start creating new habits and practicing intentionalityKnowing your current habits that are already in place, and understanding how they’re serving you (and how they’re not)Why small, healthy habits lead to MORE small, healthy habitsThe dangerous trap of comparing yourself to what you were like in previous seasons of lifeLearning to give yourself grace and embracing progress over perfectionMy personal habits I’m committing to for the next 32 daysKiah’s six habits she is committing to for the next 82 daysPracticing intentionality and mindfulness in a way that cares for your mental, emotional, AND physical healthHow Emily’s upcoming Ascend retreat can help you kickstart 2024 and really transform your life in a powerful wayResources & Links:YouDoYou82Join us at the Ascend RetreatAtomic Habits by James Clear [affiliate link]Book a Power Hour Coaching SessionLearn more about partnering with me as a speakerInquire about advertising on the Climbing with Coach Kiah podcastCheck out the Backroad Cowgirls site!Shop the Coach Kiah Store. Hi, my name is Kiah and I am a recovering people pleaser. I’m introducing myself like I’m at a people pleasers anonymous meeting and honestly, if those groups don’t exist maybe they should. As a people pleaser, I have had a tendency in my life to keep my thoughts and feelings to myself because I didn’t want to rock the boat, upset people, or just generally be uncomfortable. I saw my thoughts and feelings as a me problem and I didn’t want to burden anybody else with them. There are some problems with this which we’ll get into in a second, but as a recovering people pleaser, one of my main goals I’ve been working on is being brave with my words. In this episode, we chat about:You aren’t alone in your people pleasing waysThe more we internalize our feelings, the scarier they feel and the harder they are to manageKeeping your emotions and feelings bottled up doesn’t serve you or othersThe power of journalingResources & Links:Join us for an Ireland Retreat!Book a Power Hour Coaching SessionLearn more about partnering with me as a speakerInquire about advertising on the Climbing with Coach Kiah podcastCheck out the Backroad Cowgirls site!Shop the Coach Kiah Store. Social media… What a wonderful, terrible place. Am I right? I have a love-hate relationship with it. I’m so grateful it is a way that I can connect with so many of you, I have made some of my very closest friends through social media, and I’ve also learned a lot in the space. But, it can also be a source of a lot of stress and anxiety for me. It can feel like keeping up with joneses as a small business marketing online and lord knows it can lead me down a spiral of comparison and yep, envy.BUT, it’s not all bad. In fact, I’ve come to realize that some of these uncomfortable emotions, like jealousy, can be really helpful when we stop long enough to get curious and learn from them, which is what we’re chatting about today. And it’s not just something we feel scrolling social media either. Let’s dive in! In this episode, I chat about:The difference between envy and jealousy The reminder that social media doesn’t show the whole story of someone’s life How envy can be a guiding light for the things we want in our lifeCelebrating those that you envyResources & Links:Join us for an Ireland Retreat!Book a Power Hour Coaching SessionLearn more about partnering with me as a speakerInquire about advertising on the Climbing with Coach Kiah podcastCheck out the Backroad Cowgirls site!Shop the Coach Kiah Store. It might sound silly to some people, but back in high school (and long after) I had a personal rule to never let my legs show above my knees. Along with that rule, I had several other rules on a long list of conditions for my own self-acceptance. I have since been working on overcoming those rules, and I am celebrating myself for loving and accepting my body in lots of different ways. Seemingly small ways that actually mean a lot to me. And I want to celebrate you for the steps you’re taking too.In this episode, we chat about:Rules I made for myself in the past of how to dressHaving lists of conditions of our own self-acceptanceHow to combat past conditioned shame that might still creep up Celebrating the small wins and the baby steps that you’re taking todayEmpower women in the baby steps they are taking to love themselvesResources & Links:Book a Power Hour Coaching SessionLearn more about partnering with me as a speakerInquire about advertising on the Climbing with Coach Kiah podcastCheck out the Backroad Cowgirls site!Shop the Coach Kiah Store. If you’re listening to this in real time, we are just a couple weeks away from hitting the middle of the year. We typically think about setting goals and casting big visions for our lives and our careers at the beginning of a new year, but I think it’s important that we make time throughout the year to check-in with ourselves, check in on our progress, and reevaluate if we’re still going in the right direction or even climbing the right mountain. Things change, and it’s okay for our direction to change as a result of that. But if we keep just our heads down and never assess how we’re feeling and if the path we’re on is still even aligned, we may reach the destination only to discover we wish we had gone a different direction. So, this week, let’s ask ourselves some check-in questions and explore how we can set some aligned intentions for the rest of the year moving forward. Let’s dive in!In this episode, we’ll chat about:Assessing the areas in your life where you feel like you’re thriving vs. falling short How is your progress on your goals and do your goals still align with the person you want to become? If you didn’t set goals for yourself at the beginning of the year, what might your goals look like for the remainder of the year?Guidepost check-inYou are already manifesting everything in your life, you might as well intentionally curate the life you want The impact vision boards have made on my life Resources & Links:Join the Vision Board Workshop party! International Retreat SurveyLearn more about partnering with me as a speakerInquire about advertising on the Climbing with Coach Kiah podcastShop the Coach Kiah Store. In this episode, I have the joy of welcoming a long awaited guest, my very own husband, Brent Burchett! When I first started this podcast about two years ago, I asked Brent to be a guest on the podcast and much to my dismay, he said no! He then agreed that if I made it to 100 episodes, then he’d be a guest on the show.
