02 Tech Consulting with Dot Project

02 Tech Consulting with Dot Project

Today I am speak with Cat Ainsworth and Annie Legge from the Dot Project.  Annie and Cat started Dot Project 6 years ago with the purpose of building strength through technology. They come from very  different backgrounds but share a dislike of hierarchy and have created a cooperative that helps organisations position technology and human relationships as core organisational infrastructure.
It was a breath of fresh air talking to these two amazing women! We hear how it takes both bravery and patience to build a cooperative.  We explore how Dot Project started, how it grew and how the cooperative principles inform everything that they do. We touch on Women in tech, the idea that growing something for impact rather than just for the sake of growth has been misunderstood in the past, but how the tide of investment may be turning.

You can find out more about Annie, Cat and the Dot Project below.

03 Collegiate thinking and supportive working with The Mangrove Collective

03 Collegiate thinking and supportive working with The Mangrove Collective

Today I am speaking with Elizabeth Fitton Higgins and Eunchim Choi from the Mangrove Collective. The Mangrove Collective is a for-purpose international humanitarian and development consultancy, based in New Zealand and Singapore with a focus on the Pacific and Asia regions.

In this powerful conversation we learn how the lack of support for working mothers in a corporate NGO environment became a catalyst for one of the founding principles for The Mangrove Collective.   We hear how the Collective practices a strong culture of support and collegiate thinking.  We learn about the chaotic early days and how  the MC  turned it around to create a stable pipeline of work that they really love doing.  And finally the Mangrove Collective have some great advice for those just starting out on their consulting journey.

07 Six questions to reflect on your year with Janet and Helen

07 Six questions to reflect on your year with Janet and Helen

Today Helen and I are talking you through a useful framework you can use to reflect on your year. These are 6 questions to ask about your year as a consultant . You can also use these questions if you are working as an employee but wish to move into consulting as they may give you some ideas about the direction you could go in the future.

This is an episode where you need to find a quiet space, perhaps an hour to yourself.  For us this is part of self-care. Make sure you have a pen, paper and something nice to drink. There's a lot of celebrating of yourself in this episode - something frankly we don't do often enough.   Something we can forget as we go quickly from one thing to another.

So it's time to put a sign on your door and carve some space, and show yourself some appreciation!
