Emily Badescu on the anthropological influence in her work and discovering fringe communities
Multidisciplinary filmmaker Emily Badescu works for businesses who put ethics at the heart of their brand. Her works mainly span the fields of commercial and documentary. We touch on her latest work Nuestro Muro, a documentary focusing on the lives of a group of young migrants who have been brought together in Barcelona by Rebobinart, an urban art training programme that encourages self expression through graffiti.

We sit down with the hilarious and talented film director Riffy Ahmed. She recently graduated with an MA in Directing Fiction from the National Film and Television School in London. Riffy reflects on her journey from photography at university to filmmaking. She speaks openly on how her previous relationship impacted her decision to pursue directing, her fears of not being good enough and her love of spirituality for keeping her grounded and centred. We speak about her recent project Al Sarab inspired by her uncle’s life story that unravels religion, family dynamics and reuniting.

Green Aral Sea on their hopes for the future of the Aral Sea
Introducing Green Aral Sea, Under the Accelerator Lab section sponsored by the UN the Green Initiative is a programme close to their hearts. In an attempt to crowdfund the money needed to cover the dried up sea bed with native plants, we find out more about the causes of the disappearance of the Aral Sea, the effect on the locals and how we can support their work.
