Aaaannnddd we're back, this week Jordan and Lauren have chosen two films where the star of the movie finally got their second big break of their career, rocketing them back into the limelight and acclaim. Jordan's choice is the Academy Award winning Alejandro González Iñárritu film Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), which shot everyones favourite bio-exorcist, Michael Keaton, back onto our screen in a big way, Lauren went with possibly the most famous of them all, the kicking off of the Marvel Studios canon and Robert Downey Jr as it's face, Iron Man.Subscribe, listen and enjoy.
It's been a huge part of our lives now for well over a decade. Some of us love it, some of us despise it. However, there is no denying that the birth of social media has impacted the population in a huge way. So, we thought we'd take the opportunity this week to talk about a couple of films where social media plays a huge part.First up in Jordan's choice, the critically acclaimed feature film debut from Bo Burnham, Eighth Grade. Lauren then takes us on a journey with a new type of stalker in Ingrid Goes West.Subscribe, listen and enjoy.
Check your armpit stains aren't too visible and grab yourself a cocktail cause it's summertime, baby! And given this sunny fact, we here at HFHM HQ thought why not take this opportunity to take a look at two films set during heatwaves. First up is Lauren's choice with Billy Wilder's steamy The Seven Year Itch, starring Marilyn Monroe is one of her most iconic performances. Jordan then takes you on a seriously sweaty tale of murder as his pick this week is Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece, Rear Window. Subscribe, listen and enjoy!
'I'm out of order!? You're out of order! This whole courtroom's out of order!' Yes, it's time to take a plunge into the ageless and fascinating sub-genre of the court-room drama.First in the witness box is Lauren's choice with Aaron Sorkin's superb slice of 60s liberalism with The Trial of the Chicago 7, before Jordan takes the stand and confesses his love for Sidney Lumet's 1982 film, The Verdict.Subscribe, listen and enjoy!
I think Monthy Python said it best... 'and now for something completely different'. Influenced by Charlize Theron's superb portrayal as Furiosa discussed in last week's episode, the choice for kick-ass females seemed an easy one. So that's what we did. However, instead of choosing two separate films this week, we've gone with one kick-ass female spread across two films. In this episode we take a long look at Quentin Tarantino's blood-drenched revenge extravaganza, Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Kill Bill Vol. 2 starring the incredible Uma Thurman as the iconic Bride.Subsribe, listen and enjoy.
Timing has never really been our strong suit, so doing a show about a couple of Post-Apocalyptic movies as we (hopefully) are coming out of a pandemic in the UK may not be the greatest idea but what the hell... we did it anyway.Lauren's choice this week is the action packed extravangza Mad Max Fury Road from the crazy mind of George Miller. Jordan's pick, however, is a little more subdued with Andrei Tarkovsky's seminal sci-fi masterpiece, Stalker.Subscribe, listen and enjoy!

They've tackled the eighties and nineties so far on this podcast so this one feels right!First up is Lauren's choice, the girl-power romp that is John Tucker Must Die - starring the it boy of the time, Jesse Metcalfe. Whereas Jordan picks the raunchy but sweet sex-comedy, The Girl Next Door.Subscribe, listen and enjoy!
This week we take a gloomy turn and look at one of the more morose and dark topic's we've tackled in while... Serial Killer films! And we went and chose two which were inspired by real events.First up is Lauren's choice - Patty 'Wonder Woman' Jenkins' debut, Monster, which earned Charlize Theron a trip the podium at the 2004 Academy Awards. Then we take a jump across the globe to South Korea as Jordan's choice is the highly acclaimed Memories of Murder, the second film from the current golden-boy director Bong Joon-Ho.Subscribe, listen and enjoy.

Then it's time for Jordan to take you to inner-city Glasgow to watch Scarlett Johansson prey on some unsuspecting men in Jonathan Glazer's Under the Skin.Subscribe, listen and enjoy.
We've finally reached 50 episodes and here at HFHM HQ we thought that was worthy of celebration. It's been a tough last 12 months but we are making a promise to you lovely listeners that we'll be loading more consistent content from now on. Our show this week was a simple on to come up with... given that we're 50 episodes old, we decided to watch some films that turn 50 this year. First up is Lauren's choice with the childhood staple Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, before Jordan takes us into the seedy underbelly of New York City, with Alan J. Pakula's stylistic noir, Klute. Subscribe, listen and enjoy.
