He wrote a book called The Good Ancestor, and I have to credit Roman with helping me to think a lot more about legacy, and the way we show up for future generations - especially in these times of Black Lives Matter, Coronavirus, Trump (and a severely divided America) and Brexit - need I say more? His book, The Good Ancestor, is out now. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

I was moved and amazed by your eloquence and empathy Alex, thank you. I was moved by the MLK quote, and by something you said about men, specifically Black men who will find themselves in predicaments that require them to have some resolve and personal assurance. Also, you said that self respect, self protection and self care come from the confidence we create for ourselves. And most of all I appeciated the fact that you're "in that with [us]." I Oliver, make the promise to myself to fight against what it is that is causing me to pull myself apart, in order to survive. Ps. update there's now 7 officers involved and at least one is White.

Thanks for this input, Alex. I have my own issues with mental health that I don't like to talk about so much. Setting boundaries is something that I have had to learn to do as I'm a naturally open book. It's caused me more problems than I care to recount in the past, so I have been trying to build those walls and set those gates up in a healthy manner. The work I do today, I want to be thankful for tomorrow so thank you for your down-to-earth delivery. Peace! ✌️
