Bonus: Q&A with Laurie O'Connel and Death Game!

    Show Notes
To tide us over til our next one-shot, here's a bonus episode where our host and GM Fiona interviews game designer Laurie O'Connel, the creator behind Lichcraft, Hieronymus, and the upcoming Death Game!
Laurie’s TTRPG work covers a wide, wide range subjects, from the ‘weird’ to the ‘unsettling’. His latest project, Death Game is a narrative-driven tabletop roleplaying game when characters compete in a high-stakes battle for survival.
Inspired by the battle royale genre, whose touchstones include media like Hunger Games, Squid Game, and Alice in Borderlands, players will pick up characters struggling against all odds for victory. As the number of competitors narrows and the stakes grow higher, you'll play until one of you wins, and the rest of you die.
You can get more updates about Death Game and Laurie's other games by signing up to his newsletter and on his website, Twelve Pin Press.

Episode #127: Solemn Vale Pt. 2 (Actual Play UK Livestream)

Episode #127: Solemn Vale Pt. 2 (Actual Play UK Livestream)

Content Warnings/Trigger Warnings: Folkhorror themes, violence, disappearances, child endangerment, supernatural horror, 1970s attitudes.
    Show Notes
This week, Fiona is joined by Pip, James, Adam and Rhys for ‘Solemn Vale’, a narrative-driven storytelling game where players tell abhorrent tales of horror and the supernatural.
Published by Dirty Vortex, ‘Solemn Vale’ is set against the backdrop of 1970s England, exploring a repugnant world of Folk Horror and the paranormal. Each game is a communal storytelling experience, with the players taking on the roles of visitors to this village ensnared in a tale of mystery and survival.
Guided by the Narrator, each story will deliver a small glimpse into the grim underbelly of the vale and the festering malevolence feeding it. Success is by no means certain, as the Wyrd corrupts and destroys all those who confront it
You can find out more information about ‘Solemn Vale’ on the Dirty Vortex's website.
This one-shot’s audio was taken from the Actual Play UK's livestream. Actual Play UK is a streaming channel for UK-based TTRPG podcasts to create collaborations.
